The Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS) is the central institution for the promotion of junior researchers at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). We support doctoral candidates, doctoral researchers, postdocs and the Young Investigator Network (YIN) and connect the doctoral programs at KIT.
We
- individually advise, qualify, and support young scientists during their careers
- further develop the support of young scientists at KIT and maintain the quality of the doctoral research phase
- support coordinated research programs (e.g. research training groups) for the promotion of young scientists.

Dr. Joel Joseph, Karina Winkler, Martin Angerer and Dr. Tobias Röddiger receive the Helmholtz Doctoral Prize 2024 in the research fields of Climate, Physics and Information for their outstanding dissertations. Almost 9,000 doctoral students conduct research at Helmholtz. Eleven outstanding young scientists were awarded.
MehrFor his outstanding dissertation at the KIT Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Ali Riza Durmaz receives the Südwestmetall-Förderpreis 2023/24. With this prize, the Employers' Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry honors outstanding achievements of young scientists at the Baden-Württemberg state universities, which are important for the industrial working world or its socio-political framework conditions.
Picture above: Dr. Ali Riza Durmaz, Südwestmetall-Chairman Joachim Schulz MoreThe Friedrich und Elisabeth Boysen-Stiftung again will award a prize at KIT for an outstanding dissertation in the field of environmental technology with special consideration of engineering solutions for the reduction of pollutants and noise and optimization of energy consumption. The prize is endowed with EUR 5,000. Application deadline is Monday, May 13, 2024.
MoreThe KHYS offers the Research Travel Grant for doctoral candidates and postdocs and provides financial support for a three to six-month research stay abroad. Application deadline is on Monday, June 10, 2024.
