KIT PhD Symposium

General information

Aim

After the great success of the last two KIT PhD Symposia in 2009 and 2010, we would like to invite all doctoral researchers to the 3rd KIT PhD Symposium on the 22nd of March 2012.

This symposium will be your unique chance to reach a higher level of presentation skills by presenting your work in front of a larger audience in preparation for national and international conferences. Experts will evaluate posters and talks and offer professional feedback in smaller groups. The symposium and especially the posterparty will provide you the opportunity to foster collaborations within KIT and will cover a wide range of research topics. You are encouranged to present your project in a more general manner in order to reach an interdisciplinary audience. The official language for the symposium will be English.

The best poster and talks will be awarded.

Scope

The KIT PhD Symposium will represent all six competence areas reflecting the wide research spectrum of KIT:

  • Applied Life Sciences
  • Earth and Environment
  • Information, Communication and Organization
  • Matter and Materials
  • Systems and Processes
  • Technology, Culture and Society

Audience/target group

Every doctoral researcher at KIT is invited to join the KIT PhD Symposium to give a talk, present a poster or to be just a part of the audience.

Free Attendance

The KIT PhD Symposium is entirely sponsored by the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS). Lunch, coffee and refreshments are free of charge. There will be no conference fee and no additional costs charged for participation.

Feedback

Feedback does not only describe something you have to do better, but also show things you already do good or even professionally, including body language and performance content, coherence, and clarity of the presentation. Through the feedback you could get an opportunity to develop yourself.
As we want to offer every speaker the opportunity to get the feedback from the experts personally, we will have a special feedback zone. In that zone you can talk to your experts (rhetoric and scientific experts as well as doctoral researchers) in small groups, in order to compare and develop yourself.
