The first KIT PhD Days took place from March 18 to March 21, 2014. This year’s motto was “INFORMATION – ORIENTATION – NETWORKING.” At the event, doctoral researchers at KIT and those interested in doing a PhD had ample of opportunities to gather information concerning the diverse aspects of a doctorate. Furthermore they had the chance to get an overview of the many services for doctoral researchers that are offered at KIT.

Large number of participants

About 500 visitors joined the lectures and panel discussions on topics such as financing the PhD period or career prospects in industry. At various information booths participants had the chance to get in touch with contact persons from different service units at KIT.

The so-called Doktorandencafé and the evening barbecue “Grillen und Chillen” provided participants with plenty of opportunity to network and get in contact with doctoral researchers from other disciplines.

Six workshops offered participants the opportunity to learn more about topics like career perspectives after graduation, effective time management or presentation skills.

KIT PhD Days to take place annually

Because of the good response and the positive feedback, KHYS will stage the KIT PhD Days every year. For the next KIT PhD Days some modifications have already been planned. For example, there will be more offerings for those who are interested in doing a PhD at KIT.
