Scientific Posters. Design and Pitching (two-day) [ONLINE WORKSHOP]
The event will be held in English and run for two days, on April 15 and 16, 2024, 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. each.
An effective poster presentation requires a cleverly designed poster, appropriate use of language and special techniques in presenting. This course will give you the skills you need to create professional, attractive and high-impact posters to attract interest for your research from colleagues, collaborators or audiences outside academia.
In this course you´ll learn about:
- Your audience and their needs
- Crafting the ‘story’ of your poster
- Design posters – structures, layout, software, colours, lures, visual impact and best/ worst-practice examples
- Graphical abstracts
- How to present your data
- How to write an engaging abstract
- Dialogues & Q&A sessions
- The communication skills needed to make your research interesting and accessible to your audience
- Basic self-presentation skills – presenting yourself, your research and the poster
The participants will work on their posters and communication skills both individually and in groups. They will also receive individual feedback from the instructor.
This event is open to doctoral researchers and postdocs at KIT who are KHYS members.

Technical requirements: To participate in this event, you need a stable internet connection, a webcam and a microphone. Participants will receive further detailed information regarding the online-platform prior to the event.
